Having been in the tattoo removal industry since 2018 we've come across a heap of tattoos that need to be removed for a number of reasons.
Sure you get the good old home jobs and tattoos done with a tattoo machine bought of eBay but on the opposite end of the spectrum you get tattoos related to ex partners or traumatic past events. There's all sorts of reasons in between the previously mentioned reasons so lets delve into them...
The tattoo simply didn't turn out as expected: This can be for a number of reason - the tattoo may have supposed to have been a fine line tattoo but once healed it isn't so fine line. You never really know what the tattoo is going to look like once completed, art is very different when tattooed onto a body part and not on a flat piece of paper. Sometimes you're just so excited to get the tattoo that you let the tattooist do their thing but their thing may turn out not to be yours!
They got the tattoo when they were 18: A lot of people rush into getting their first tattoo as soon as they turn 18 not thinking of where the future could take them. Most people aren't the same person they are when they turned 18 so most of the time a tattoo they chose to ink their skin with when they were 18 doesn't align with who they are at the age of 30-40.
Small detail is off: We remove a lot of really well good tattoos! For some people a small, minor detail of their tattoo can be enough for them to have it removed (most of the time we don't notice it until it's pointed out to us). Once a client is fixated on this detail and feel negatively towards it it's very hard for them to see past it.
Placement is off: When getting a tattoo and you're checking the positioning of the stencil people can sometimes be distracted by excitement and not really focus on whether the tattoo is straight or centered. Also too, if you're getting the tattoo young you're not really thinking of your future self and how where you get the tattoo may effect how you live your life.
Whatever the reason someone chooses to remove a tattoo, it can literally be life-changing. This may sound a bit drastic, but for many people, their tattoos dictate choices they make in their life, even if they don't realize it. This can be as simple as choosing to wear particular clothing so their tattoos aren't visible, but some people do take more drastic measures to hide their tattoos.
